Helping Others
Some of the most gratifying work can be providing a service to others. If you work in human services, you may find yourself giving too much of yourself. Oftentimes, you give so much of yourself that you have little left at the end of the day. You may find you don’t have enough time for your children, spouse or even yourself. This can take a huge toll on your personal relationships and your wellbeing. It is very difficult to help others when you can't manage yourself. You just need someone you can come and talk to so that you are better prepared and equipped emotionally to help others and help yourself. Let’s face it, self-care is very important for you but it is the first thing to be neglected. Where is the help for the helper?
We recognized that being in a helping profession, you sometimes just need someone to talk to. You may be struggling with helping others because you are currently experiencing hard times. Do you find yourself drained at the end of the day? Are your relationships with family and friends suffering because you are so exhausted? Would it just be nice to have someone to unload on so that when you get home you are more energized and eager to give to your family?
